Please Welcome Our New Teaching and Community Pastor
John Hopkins has served as a Pastor, Associate Pastor (Connections),
Youth Pastor, Camp Director, and Missionary in the Dominican Republic.
Many of the people he discipled over the years are now in full-time ministry both in the US and around the world. His leadership has been characterized by four key principles:
Follow Jesus (Matthew 4:19) as an apprentice, living as a student of the Bible, rooted in prayer, in deep community, a life of worship, and engaged in mission.
Love God (Matthew 22:37-38), the natural outcome of following Jesus.
Love others (Matthew 22:39; John 13:34-35; 1 John 3:16ff, et. al.) in both deed and word to open the door to sharing the Gospel (1 Peter 3:15).
Make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20) who become followers of Jesus in their own right.
John took a non-traditional route through college, focusing on Biblical Studies (particularly New Testament) in three semesters at Emmaus. He then transferred to Colorado Christian College to focus exclusively on Youth Ministry. Although he didn’t earn a degree, John followed in the footsteps of A. W. Tozer, H. A. Ironside, and other prominent Bible teachers who immersed themselves in extended study, prayer, and expository teaching.
John has been teaching from the pulpit, in Sunday School classrooms, small groups, camps, and in one on-one discipleship since 1982. One of his favorite verses is Acts 4:13.
John and his wife, Cara have four children, four in-laws, and 6 grandchildren. They are thrilled to see their children and their families walking with Jesus and continuing the family legacy
